It Begins With You: Supporting the Development of Self-Regulation in Preschoolers

Have you ever thought about how your self-regulation impacts the co-regulation of the children in your care? During this interactive training, participants will learn about brain science basics and how to support preschool children as they develop regulation skills. We will also discuss the importance of developmentally appropriate expectations for behavior and tips for maintaining a classroom environment that sets children up for success. Participants will be able to: explain the basics of the executive, emotional, and survival states of the brain; execute self-regulation strategies and define co-regulation; identify developmentally appropriate expectations for social-emotional learning and behavior; and design a classroom environment that supports social-emotional development.
