Literacy development begins long before children learn to read and write independently. Preschool environments provide countless opportunities for children to develop the language, communication, print, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and early writing skills that form the foundation for future literacy success. This interactive training will help preschool teachers understand how literacy develops in young children, recognize literacy learning in everyday experiences, and intentionally incorporate literacy throughout the day. Participants will also explore ways to create literacy-rich environments that encourage children to talk, listen, read, write, explore print, and develop a love of books and language.
